“Robert Laurie grew up in a small Northern NSW town of Kingscliff after a migration from his hometown of Yamba, where his love and affinity for the ocean was born. A short film that touches on his motivation to get back on the board after a tragic life event sent his outlook on life into turmoil. From dark times, a fire was born – this is a visual manifestation of that fire. A bright, colourful character with a unique perspective on life, that to me, describes Rob Laurie. Over the years, we gathered footage and learnt more about each other in the process. Chasing waves, the beauty of life and how we fit into the world around us. I learnt a lot about myself in the process and I hope this shows through in this performance clip.”
