Dbah Pro 2015 – DK Release
DK Tour to Start at D’Bah. Man-on-man heats will decide who takes the dropknee (DK) crown and prize purse in the ABA’s revamped contest format, geared towards showcasing the best DK talent in Australia. Next week will see the new format rolled out at the NMD D’bah Pro, as well as a new uncapped prize money formula that continues to balloon with entrant numbers.
Chairman of the ABA Board, Nick Chandler says, “This is an exciting time for DK in Australia. We’ve been working with the newly-formed ‘DK Advisory Group’ to create better quality comp formats that are more suited to DK. The ABA and the DK Advisory Group believe we’ve develop the right format to showcase DK at it’s best. The ABA is now running man-on-man heats which creates a ‘DK Battle’ scenario, with the top DK riders from around the country battling it out for the coveted DK crown of D’Bahâ€.
The DK Advisory Group is a riders’ initiative created to influence the development of a sustainable and progressive competitive DK circuit leading into the D’bah Pro and beyond. Last year’s D’bah Pro saw Dave Winchester, Matt Lackey, Shane Griffiths and Gary Thatcher in a tail-throwing war in clean three to four foot peaks, with Winny ultimately taking the crown over local favourite Lackey.
This year, the improved contest format and prize money will have DK riders keen to take the title of D’bah champion, so spectators can expect to see the highest level DK riding. Winchester is keen to take a place on the winner’s podium for a second time and enjoy the waves on offer at D’bah.
