Tom Morey Riding The First Boogie Board
“Tom Morey, legendary surfer, invented the Boogie Board. Tom showed up at the Gordon & Smith factory to show us his new invention. He was driving a 1949 Chrysler Business Coupe with a giant trunk filled with these spongy things he called Water Snakes. The word snake being an acronym for side, neck, ankle, knee, elbow.” – Balsa Bill
“He later changed the name to Boogie Board and the rest is history.
And this historical footage from 1970 shows Tom surfing his Boogie Board.
Tom is heard playing the ukulele and singing a song he wrote about his invention.” – Balsa Bill
