While the bodyboard community had their attention focused on the Arica Chilean Challenge 2015, the J-Bay Stand up event was underway in South Africa. This was until the terrifying moment when a shark attacked pro surfer Mick Fanning during one of his heats.

Mick was fine after the ordeal with no injuries, he goes on to say:- “I was just sitting there and I felt something just get stuck in my leg rope, and I was kicking trying to get it away, I just saw fins. I was waiting for the teeth.”.

WSL’s Kieren Perrow confirms that the final has been cancelled with Mick and Julian both taking a second place.
